Mighty Mighty Bosstones Still At Work On New Album
Published May 07, 2009They may never have had to knock on wood in the past but it's a safe bet that the Mighty Mighty Bosstones are doing so now in hopes that they haven't been forgotten.
They've issued a statement that after seven years, the ska-peppered collective are finally recording some new material. The process will begin in June with producer Ted Hutt at an undisclosed Los Angeles-based studio. MMB claim to have approximately 20 songs ready to go, although that will most likely be whittled down over the next few months. The band have yet to announce a title or label.
After the album is released, the band plan to tour extensively in support. As noted, the recording is the first new full-length studio effort from the Bosstones since 2002's A Jackknife To A Swan was released on SideOne Dummy. They did, however, issue Medium Rare in 2007. While it featured three new songs, the majority of it was a collection of B-sides and unreleased material. The reason for the great lapse in full-lengths is primarily chalked up to the band's shift back to independents early in the decade and subsequent hiatus between 2004 to 2006.
You all know this song. Then again, that's probably the only Bosstones song everyone's familiar with:
