John Paul Jones Sheds More Light on Next Them Crooked Vultures Album
Published Nov 12, 2010We've known for quite some time that Them Crooked Vultures -- the supergroup made up of Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones, Foo Fighters magnate Dave Grohl and Queens of the Stone Age main man Josh Homme -- would follow up their self-titled 2009 debut with a second set of goodies. But Jones wants us to know that even though the outfit is taking some well-needed time off after a year of touring, the proposed platter isn't that far off in the future.
Grohl may be back in the studio with his Foo brethren and Homme is enjoying his downtime by not touring with his old Kyuss cohorts, but Jones promises that Them Crooked Vultures will get cracking on round two pretty soon. In fact, they already have a handful of tunes to lay down to tape.
"Some stuff we've worked on, but we're gonna write pretty quickly and just put it down... we may be a year or so," the musician recently told BBC 6 Music. "It will mainly be excess material from the first album, material we started and never finished because we had to go and play the stuff we already recorded!"
So while the supergroup will lay low for the time being, we can rest assured that they're going to rock our socks off sometime soon.
