Without question, Ghost of Tsushima was one of the best video games of 2020 — not to mention one of the most successful. And now Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions are teaming up to turn the game into a film directed by none other than John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelski.

As Deadline reports, the title developed by Sucker Punch Productions is set to get a full-on feature film, making it the latest hit PlayStation game to head to the screen.

"We're excited to be partnering with Chad and 87Eleven Entertainment, to bring their vision of Jin's story to the big screen," said Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, in a statement. "We love working with creative partners like Chad, who have a passion for our games, ensuring we can create rich adaptations that will excite our fans and new audiences."

For those who have yet to play the rather incredible Ghost of Tsushima, it tells the story of samurai Jin Sakai, the last surviving member of his clan who is left to fend off the Mongol invasion from mainland Japan. The game is based of actual historical events that took place in Japan and the island of Tsushima in 1274.

Ghost of Tsushima holds the record as PlayStation 4's fastest selling first-party original IP debut, selling more than 2.4 million units worldwide in its first three days of release. Since then, the game has rightly gone on to collect a ton of notable awards.

News of the Ghost of Tsushima film follows similar projects involving The Last of Us and Uncharted.

While there's no release date yet for the upcoming film, Stahelski is about to start shooting John Wick 4 and at some point John Wick 5, so we assume Ghost of Tsushima will be a while still.
