Published May 20, 2014With summer festival season just around the corner, organizers behind the Victoria Ska Festival have revealed they're picking things back up again for their 15th annual instalment. To help celebrate the commemorative occasion, artists like Shaggy & Rayvon, Fishbone, Barrington Levy and the Aggrolites will be making their return to the Vancouver Island event.
This year's festivities take place July 1 through 5 around Victoria, with other out-of-town artists attached to the Ska Festival including the Specials vocalist Lynval Golding, Major Lazer's Walshy Fire, Los Rastrillos, Mad Bombers Society, Kobo Town and more. Sets from Vancouver Island-based acts will be delivered by Dope Soda, Bananafish Dance Orchestra, Hillside Hooligans, Downtown Mischief, Brave New Waves, Leg Up Program, Whitey and New Groovement, among others.
You can see the full lineup here.
In addition to their concert performances, Golding, Kobo Town and Fishbone will also be staging free workshops or "other interactive programming" to the Ska Festival crowds, though details on what exactly that entails have not yet been delivered. Ship Point will also host free performances on July 1, 2 and 5, while some evening events at smaller venues will also offer admission to all ages.
Tickets for the fest are available now, with a "Full Fest Pass" running at $129.50 to $149.50. Options also include single tickets, and you can find out the rest of the pricing details over here.
