Published Aug 13, 2018Following the news that Montreal synth duo Le Matos had scored Turbo Kid follow-up Summer of '84, we're now getting a full soundtrack release.
Today Death Waltz Recording Company revealed it will be releasing the score by Le Matos, marking the group's latest musical contribution to Canadian director team François Simard, Anouk Whissell and Yoann-Karl Whissell (a.k.a. RKSS).
According to Death Waltz, here's what we can expect from the soundtrack:
Taking familiar tropes from the history of electronic music (John Carpenter, Daft Punk, Tangerine Dream), Le Matos infuse the soundtrack with so much energy and originality that they end up being totally singular in the world of electronic music. We really can't think of another outfit operating on the same level right now. Summer of '84 features dizzying electro joints, super chilled ambient pieces and straight up horror-soundtrack scares!
The soundtrack will arrive as a double-LP set pressed on 180-gram "BMX Blood Splatter" vinyl (which translates to silver and red splatter). It features artwork by Sam Turner, and you can see the cover above.
Pre-orders are set to go live via Mondo's website on Wednesday (August 15), with the soundtrack then shipping out in early November.
Summer of '84 is currently playing select theatres and hits VOD on August 24. As previously reported, it stars Graham Verchere, Judah Lewis, Caleb Emery, Cory Grüter-Andrew, Tiera Skovbye and Rich Sommer.
